Why it is different
Everyone builds the same way: a frozen foundation model, with retrieval bolted on for memory. Retrieval does not learn. It re-reads a manual on every query and breaks when it fetches the wrong thing. Fine-tuning on new data is the alternative, and it quietly erases what the model already knew. Neither one knows when it is wrong, so they make things up with confidence.
